Eddie Hearn open to Chris Eubank Jnr link-up for third Conor Benn fight

Eddie Hearn says he has met Chris Eubank Jnr and is open to working with him on a third Conor Benn fight, having represented Benn in their first two meetings.

Eddie Hearn has held a lunch meeting with Chris Eubank Jnr and is open to joining forces for a third fight against Conor Benn, BoxingScene reported.

Hearn had previously indicated that, if he worked with Eubank, he would seek to stage the fight at 168lbs without a rehydration clause. Their first two contests were fought at 160lbs, with both boxers required to weigh no more than 170lbs on the morning of the fight.

The discussions follow a dispute between Hearn and Eubank. Matchroom and the British Boxing Board of Control began legal proceedings against Eubank over comments he made between the two Benn bouts.

“It was nice to clear the air. Certainly, me on Team Eubank against Dana White and Conor Benn makes the fight twice as big, and the trilogy will be interesting,” Hearn said.

Hearn represented Benn in both previous meetings. Eubank won the first on points in April, before Benn levelled the series at 1-1 with a commanding victory seven months later.

Benn subsequently switched to Zuffa Boxing. His second bout with the promotion ended in a second-round stoppage defeat by Ryan Garcia on 12 September in a WBC title contest at 147lbs. Before that fight, Benn said making the welterweight limit had been so difficult that he intended to compete at 160lbs or 168lbs in future.
