Dave Allen keen on Andy Ruiz Jr fight for career farewell

Dave Allen told IFL TV he would welcome a fight with Andy Ruiz Jr as his 40th and final outing. The British heavyweight is targeting a December return first.

Dave Allen wants to face Andy Ruiz Jr in his 40th and final fight, Boxing News reported.

Speaking to IFL TV, Allen said he was looking to return in December before considering an opponent such as Ruiz for his farewell. Allen’s last outing against Thomas Carty ended in a no-contest.

Allen acknowledged that he might not deserve the Ruiz fight, but made his enthusiasm clear: “I would f**king love that.”

Ruiz lost to Damian Knyba by unanimous decision earlier this month. He entered as a considerable favourite, but Knyba used his physical advantages to drop him heavily in the seventh round and secure a convincing points win.

The defeat marked Ruiz’s return after a two-year absence. The former unified heavyweight champion had not fought since his controversial draw with Jarrell Miller.
