Johnny Fisher plans to keep attacking style for Michael Pirotton fight

Johnny Fisher says working with Tony Sims will sharpen his attacking approach without changing it as he prepares to face Michael Pirotton on his Zuffa Boxing debut.

Johnny Fisher intends to stick with his aggressive approach against Michael Pirotton, saying attack remains his best defence, BoxingScene reported.

Asked by Sky Sports whether he would go on the attack against Pirotton, Fisher said: "I've got to,” adding: “That is the best form of not only attack for me but also defence. Loading bombs onto someone else. That's the best way for me to box."

The 27-year-old believes coach Tony Sims can make that approach more effective through greater technical knowledge. He said previous attempts to box differently had not worked for him.

Fisher faces Belgium’s Pirotton at London’s Copper Box Arena on Saturday in his first appearance for Zuffa Boxing, having joined the promotional group in July. Fisher holds a 14-1 record with 12 knockouts, while Pirotton is 12-2 with six stoppages.

Fisher’s attacking style brought a first-round win over Alen Babic, but his two fights with Dave Allen exposed its risks. After beating Allen by split decision in December 2024, Fisher was stopped in the fifth round of their rematch six months later. He returned with a fourth-round victory over Ivan Balaz last December after a difficult start.

Fisher also addressed the prospect of facing Deontay Wilder, which had been discussed while he was with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom. He said Hearn had put the idea to him, but no fight had been agreed.

“Of course I am open for business to fight absolutely anyone,” Fisher said.
